All 6th grade students will take Introduction to Theater Arts this year. This class is designed to give the students a sense of what performing is like. While in this class the students work on how to project, movement on stage and memorization. One of the key elements of this class is how to overcome stage fright. I put the students on stage as much as possible to encourage them to take good risks while in a safe environment.
So far this term the students have studied projection, articulation, stage movement, improvisational theater, musical theater and have read a play aloud. Currently they are studying theater etiquette. They are writing their own scripts to show both good and bad theater etiquette.
